The problem users faced with the existing UBA mobile app can be summarized as follows:
1. Unattractive interface; Users found the app's interface unappealing and not visually engaging, which made their overall experience less enjoyable and less likely to use the app regularly.
2. Functional Issues: Users encountered functionality problems within the app, such as non-responsive buttons and features that did not work as expected. These issues hindered the app's utility and frustrated users.
3. Navigation Challenges: Users struggled to navigate through the various banking options within the app. This lack of user-friendly navigation made it difficult for them to access and utilize different banking services efficiently.

Interviews During the interviews, I asked a total of 20 questions to gather insights from users. The users responded positively to the questions, indicating their willingness to provide feedback and engage in the discussion. The focus of the interview questions revolved around three key areas;
2. Users were open in sharing their experiences and areas where they felt the app could be enhanced. My questions then delved into the app's functionality, specifically regarding the responsiveness of buttons and the general usability of features. Users highlighted instances where they encountered issues, showcasing their eagerness for a more reliable and user-friendly app. 3. Then I explored users' experiences in navigating through the app's banking options. This included questions about ease of use, accessibility features, and any challenges faced during navigation. Users expressed their desire for a more intuitive and seamless navigation experience. Overall, the interviews provided valuable user insights that became the foundation for the successful redesign project, helping address specific pain points and create a more appealing, functional, and user-centric UBA mobile app. Look at what some users had to say; |
Wireframing In the wireframing process for the redesign of the UBA mobile involved several steps of which I enjoyed. I began by revisiting the user feedback and insights gathered from surveys and interviews. This provided me with a clear understanding of the pain points and user preferences that needed to be addressed. Based on user feedback and project goals, I identified the key features and functionalities that needed improvement or redesign. These features were prioritized to ensure a user-centric approach. Then I kick-started with low-fidelity sketches on paper (I'm also an artist). These sketches were quick, rough drawings that helped visualize the layout and arrangement of elements without getting into finer details. Then using my knowledge in Figma, I translated my sketches into basic digital wireframes. These wireframes outlined the structure of each screen, including the placement of buttons, navigation menus, and content sections. I then engaged in an iterative process, constantly refining the wireframes based on feedback from my team member, and usability testing. This iterative approach allowed for continuous improvement. Throughout this wireframing process, I maintained a user-centric focus, addressing the specific problems identified by users and aligning the redesign with their preferences and needs. |
In the usability test, we conducted a series of tasks and observations to evaluate the app's user-friendliness and identify potential issues. Here are the key activities that took place.
1. Task-Based Testing: I asked participants to perform specific tasks within the app, such as
checking their account balance, making a transfer, or updating personal information. These tasks
reflect common user interactions.
2. Observation: While participants completed tasks, I observed their actions, paying attention to
where they clicked, what choices they made, and any difficulties or hesitations they encountered.
3. Think-Aloud Protocol: I encouraged participants to verbalize their thoughts and reactions as they interacted with the app. This provided insights into their decision-making process and any frustrations
they experienced.
5. Error Identification: My partner documented any errors or issues participants encountered during
the test, such as buttons not working, confusing labels, or navigation problems.
6. Post-Test Interviews: We conducted follow-up interviews to gather qualitative feedback on the
user experience, allowing participants to expand on their observations and suggest improvements.
7. Usability Metrics: We then collected quantitative data, such as task completion times, success
rates, to measure the app's efficiency and effectiveness.
The usability test aimed to uncover usability issues and gather user feedback to inform further
refinements in the app's design and functionality. The insights gained from this testing process was invaluable in shaping the final version of the redesigned UBA mobile app.
